This place is a lovely old hotel that's been well-maintained. The staff here are super efficient. However, they could definitely be more attentive when it comes to customer service. 🏨

Fab location to the bus transportation or whatever it's still risky in broad daylight. Next to restaurants, and the airport. Nice styled and sufficiently large units and superfriendly staff that do n't care enough to provide even the most basic of customer service;))

Well located and big room.
Accommodation is older, the room is soundproof and very noisy and the staff is not very friendly.

Hotel Carlton was very well situated for visiting downtown sf with buses 5 only minutes walk and trams nearby. The hotel is obviously of an age but delightful for it. The the room was clean and comfortable even if the mountainous pillows were a challenge for the neck and a boon for the chiropractor. The front desk were great.
One let down was the breakfast. A rock-hard bagel and cinnamon twist and coffee is too limited in our opinion as frequent international travelers. Something hot would be nice, but if not at least some chunky muesli, fresh cut fruit and hot toast would be expected, even if the price was adjusted slightly to suit. The restaurant was fully booked for our first night but we were not told that it would be closed for the next two nights of our stay, why so in an 'international' hotel? The meal and breakfast situation aside we enjoyed our stay.

Location, easy to get anywhere, short walk from cable cars, bus stops, can't beat it.
Few things outdated, however all clean, if you just sleep there, you will find it very comfy, staff is very helpful, bathroom big, safe included in the room, bed is huge. And yes, you can hear sounds, but you can hear them in any hotel. Overall - recommened.

The hotel is fairly clean with delightful breakfasts and superbly friendly and outstandingly accommodating staff. The room is reasonably priced. The location is good, decent, and close to bus transportation and other better restaurants, as well as the opera house.
